DSTC Proposes Motor Vehicle Tires Containing Zinc as a Priority Product

Per a January 12 press release, California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control has accepted a petition from the California Stormwater Quality Association asking that the DTSC list motor vehicle tires with tire treads containing zinc as a Priority Product.&nbsp; Per the petition, zinc released from tires is an aquatic toxicant that impacts aquatic organisms and potentially imposes high costs to California stormwater agencies responsible for meeting water quality objectives.&nbsp; For more information, <a href="https://dtsc.ca.gov/scp/motor_vehicle_tires_containing_zinc/" target="_self" rel="noopener">click here</a>.

Biden Administration Bolsters Buy American Requirements

As part of his “Build Back Better” initiative, President Biden issued an executive order (EO) yesterday that tightens Buy American requirements by enhancing enforcement efforts, increasing domestic content requirements for U.S. goods, and making it more difficult to obtain waivers. The EO, entitled, “Executive Order on Ensuring the Future is Made in All of America by All of America’s Workers,” also establishes a centralized Made in America office within the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to track compliance with the policy.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thompsonhine.com/publications/biden-administration-bolsters-buy-american-requirements" target="_self" rel="noopener">Continue reading.</a>
