NLRB Reworks Independent Contractor Test Under NLRA

On June 13 the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued a decision in The Atlanta Opera overturning Trump-era NLRB precedent from its 2019 ruling in SuperShuttle DFW, Inc. on determining whether a worker is an employee covered by the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) or an independent contractor excluded from coverage. FBI Issues Business Email Compromise Alert

On June 9 the FBI released a public service announcement (PSA) addressing new information and statistics on cyberattacks related to business email compromise (BEC), with an emphasis on a recent increase in such attacks targeting the real estate sector. California Privacy Law Enforcement Delayed Until 2024

On June 30, 2023, a Superior Court for the County of Sacramento issued a tentative ruling that both prohibits the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) from enforcing certain California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) regulations until 2024 and mandates a 12-month grace period between the adoption of future CPRA regulations and their regulatory enforcement. Accordingly, the original California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) remains in effect until the CPRA regulations enter into force in 2024. Learn more.
