June 2024

  • New York paid lactation break law effective June 19.
  • Washington, D.C. pay transparency law effective June 30.
  • EEOC’s final rule implementing the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act effective June 18.

July 2024

  • New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection "Know Your Rights at Work" poster requirements must be implemented by July 1.
  • Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave Ordinance effective July 1.
  • Colorado prohibits requiring applicant’s age, date of birth or graduation date on job application effective July 1.
  • Minnesota paid leave law quarterly reports start July 1.
  • Updates to Oregon Family Leave Act and Paid Leave Oregon effective July 1.

2025

  • Connecticut expands paid sick leave eligibility effective January 1.
  • Delaware paid family and medical leave law contributions expected to begin January 1.
  • Amendment to Illinois Equal Pay Act effective January 1.
  • Maine paid family and medical leave program effective January 1.
  • New York mandates paid prenatal leave effective January 1.
  • New Hampshire accommodations for nursing mothers effective July 1.
  • Maryland paid family and medical leave contributions begin July 1.

2026

  • Delaware paid family and medical leave benefits begin January 1.
  • Maine paid family and medical leave benefits available January 1.
  • Minnesota paid family leave attributions begin January 1.
  • Maryland paid family and medical leave benefits begin July 1.

  • Colorado wage theft enforcement fund effective April 1.

What to Watch:

New York recently passed a bill requiring paid prenatal leave for pregnant workers. This law is the first of its kind and may lead to similar laws in other states.
