The OLS Entrepreneur Workshop Series is a monthly seminar program to educate, develop, and support Entrepreneurs in Residence, CEO in Residence candidates, and Senior Leadership. Programs will consist of instruction designed to arm attendees with skills and strategies to enable their entrepreneurial spirit and drive. Planned monthly program topics focus on ideation, opportunity analysis, strategic vision & plan development, workforce development, intellectual property, competitive analysis, quality/regulatory, product development, clinical research, fundraising, and board & strategic advisor development and management.

Amanda Miller, Senior Counsel, Thompson Hine
Amanda advises clients on protecting their intellectual property assets and defends their rights in enforcement actions, with a primary focus on patent prosecution, litigation, and licensing. Her experience includes preparing patent applications for life sciences, pharmaceutical, chemical and mechanical inventions; preparing patent-related opinions, such as freedom-to-operate and invalidity opinions, including those related to Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA); and drafting complex intellectual property agreements. Amanda also provides guidance on patenting strategy and litigation avoidance/design-arounds and supervises foreign patent prosecutions. Her extensive experience in prosecuting and defending patent infringement actions encompasses a variety of technologies, and she has litigated cases in federal courts across the country.
Samantha Stubblefield, Ph.D., Vice President of Operations and Program Management, Convelo Therapeutics
Dr. Stubblefield joined Convelo in July 2018. Samantha’s background is in drug discovery and development for retinal, neurological, and inflammatory disorders. Prior to joining Convelo, Samantha worked at the Harrington Discovery Institute helping to guide academic drug discovery programs through the steps needed to commercialize. She also served as a Senior Scientist at Athersys where she focused on immunological MOA studies and investigating new clinical indications for MultiStem. Samantha builds discovery engines to address specific scientific needs. She excels at team building, problem solving, and organizational leadership. In addition to her role at Convelo, Samantha serves as an advisor to the OLS Accelerator as well as various entrepreneurial programs in Ohio. Samantha received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Akron and her PhD in Molecular Biology from Case Western Reserve University. In her free time, Samantha likes to be outdoors with her family, playing softball or in a gym.
