Friedman</a> has been appointed to the board of directors for the <a href="https://imis.iadclaw.org/iadcimis/Foundation/About/Board%20of%20Directors/IADCFoundation/About%20The%20Foundation/Board%20of%20Directors.aspx?hkey=5037c11a-094b-4a08-ac76-793f7a9154ae" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Foundation of the IADC</a>, the <a href="https://www.iadclaw.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">International Association of Defense Counsel’s</a> (IADC) charitable arm, whose mission is to support the rule of law and access for all to a fair and just legal system through education and research, strategic partnerships, and relevant projects.

Last year, Friedman was named chair of the IADC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for a two-year term. She also is a founder and vice chair of its Empowerment Collaborative, an initiative to support and promote the IADC’s women members. In addition, she is a member of IADC’s Corporate Counsel College planning committee, Trial Academy committee and CLE committee. An active IADC member since 2012, Friedman previously served as vice chair of diversity for the Environmental and Energy Law Committee and has held a variety of positions related to meeting planning and membership.

In her legal practice, Friedman focuses on environmental, health and safety counseling in business, regulatory and legislative matters, environmental and toxic tort litigation, environmental enforcement actions, site remediation, product stewardship and compliance with environmental regulations. She spends a significant amount of time working on issues critical to supporting the advancement of women and other minorities in the legal field, both at Thompson Hine and the local, regional and national levels.

Its core purposes are to enhance skills development, promote professionalism and facilitate camaraderie among its members, their clients and the broader civil justice community.
