Eric has more than 35 years of private practice and in-house legal experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, he served as chief legal officer for the mutual fund unit of a Fortune 100 insurance company for more than 17 years. In that position, his principal duties involved counseling senior executives and actively representing management teams before the independent board of trustees responsible for overseeing more than 120 funds. Those funds included retail and variable insurance-linked funds with single and multiple sub-advisers, as well as funds of funds. He has extensive and in-depth experience managing and resolving the conflicts of interest inherent to the operation of mutual funds and has special expertise respecting all aspects of the annual contract renewal process, including the duties and potential liability of the various parties that participate in that process.
