Ted is a partner in the Intellectual Property Prosecution, Transactions & Portfolio Management practice group. He works on a variety of intellectual property matters, with a principal focus on trademark prosecution and litigation.
Ted serves as a strategic advisor to clients, providing guidance on strategies for acquiring and protecting IP assets, managing domestic and global IP portfolios, and aligning IP strategy with business objectives. He conducts clearance searches, advises clients on trademark filing decisions, prepares and prosecutes domestic and international trademark applications, represents clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, monitors third-party compliance with enforcement efforts, provides guidance on patent issues and assists with copyright registrations. He also counsels clients on IP-related aspects of transactions, including performing due diligence and reviewing and drafting contracts and licensing agreements involving clients’ intellectual property.
Prior to joining Thompson Hine, Ted was a partner for nearly 25 years at a boutique intellectual property law firm, where he oversaw the management of thousands of domestic and international trademark properties for a diverse range of clients. Holding both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering, Ted worked as an engineer for more than five years before going to law school.
