Amanda has extensive experience in handling labor and employment consulting and litigation; intellectual property prosecution and litigation; residential and commercial real estate litigation; and human resources and regulatory compliance counseling. She focuses on California and federal employment litigation; intellectual property disputes involving copyright, trademark, and trade secret protection; and general business and contractual matters. She has litigation experience in both state and federal courts.

Amanda also provides guidance to clients on employment matters, as well as regulatory and statutory compliance with consumer protection statutes, advertising laws, state regulations (including Proposition 65), and federal regulatory matters involving agencies including the FTC and FDA.

Focus Areas

Examples of Amanda’s experience include:

  • Defending employers in state and federal court wage and hour, class action, and California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) matters.
  • Defending an employer in a trial involving individual claims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation under California Fair Employment & Housing Act (FEHA), and wage and hour claims. Held the plaintiff to only a small damages award and zero attorneys’ fees.
  • Defending a cosmetics manufacturer against claims by an international sales representative seeking indefinite post-termination commissions.
  • Obtaining a judgment and permanent injunction for an advertising collective against an attorney and others who were passing themselves off as the client’s representatives by using similar phone numbers. Successfully defended the judgment on appeal.
  • Acting as outside general counsel for a California-based manufacturer and international distributor of cosmetics.
  • Conducting a large-scale action for plaintiffs asserting real estate investment fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, and breach of contract against a real estate professional. Conducted an extensive arbitration proceeding involving labor code violation claims and claims of breach of fiduciary duties by a minority corporate shareholder, officer, and director.
  • Successfully defending a large-scale federal action involving claims of unfair competition, false advertising, and trademark infringement.
  • Successfully resolving a number of threatened class actions against cosmetic manufacturers under the California Unfair Competition Law (UCL) and California Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA).
  • Counseling corporate clients on FDA, California Health and Safety Code, and CLRA compliance.
  • Counseling numerous companies on employment matters and trademark disputes.
