SECURE 2.0 codified earlier Department of Labor guidance that permitted the automatic transfer of funds from one employer plan to another. The Portability Services Network, a consortium whose members include some of the largest 401(k) plan recordkeepers in the industry, is going live in October with a solution to facilitate these transfers. Session 8 of our series will explore the legal parameters of auto-portability and the nuts and bolts of how it works. It’s an important new tool intended to help prevent retirement plan leakage and mitigate missing participant issues and you will have an opportunity to hear directly from one of the individuals who has helped pioneer this first-of-its-kind auto-portability system.
